Caesarean Section Rates
In developed and emerging countries, the growth in Caesarean section rates has produced excessive concern, and Caesarean sections have also played an operative role in Ghana’s maternity hospitals.
The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of Caesarean section among women who give birth at the Hospitals in Ghana. Maternal care instrument set is available in reputable hospitals in Ghana. The incidence of undesirable fetal outcomes was significantly higher in infants born by emergency Caesarean section (P = 0.016). Twelve (1.9%) women had a caesarean section according to the mother’s requirements. The caesarean section rate found was high. The lack of fetal stress diagnosis techniques found in this study can lead to overdiagnosis of fetal stress. Therefore, the availability of this diagnostic technique can reduce high caesarean sections. A large number of women who need a caesarean section without medical indication should be examined and motivational factors identified to curb this practice.
A research has shown that women complain about the major surgery instrument set in Ghana hospitals that they do not provide proper services for maternity hospitals. Gynaecological instrument set is used in hospitals properly in the pelvic exam of a pregnant woman. This test examines the vulva (external reproductive organs), the uterus (uterus), the cervix (opening from the vagina to the uterus), the fallopian tubes (tubes that transport eggs to the uterus) and the ovaries (organs that produce organs) . (Egg), bladder (sack with urine), rectum (cavity between the colon and anus).
The maternal mortality rate in Ghana has remained high with a recent estimate of 540 per 100,000 live births. Prenatal care for healthcare professionals reached 92. % despite the increased demand for obstetrics for healthcare professionals. Ghana introduced a directive aimed at improving access to health services for poor and vulnerable people by introducing it, and generally exempting all user fees for obstetrics. Delivery instrument set are also provided to the doctors for proper check-up of the women who expect to deliver their baby in Ghana hospitals.
Due to the lack of medical equipment in Ghana, the average life expectancy in 2015 was 62.4. This life expectancy is almost 10 years below the global average of 2015. Ghana has few medical device companies and most of these companies are based in Accra. The lack of medical device companies has resulted in many hospitals and doctors running out of local medical device sources. Doctors and surgeons in Ghana are usually delighted to find that they can reduce device costs by up to 50% or more by buying reliable, refurbished US medical devices. Ghana imports medical dressing instrument set and other supplies from USA.
Breathing failure that requires intubation and mechanical ventilation is common in emergency rooms or intensive care units participating in academic tertiary centres in Ghana. The second largest hospital in Ghana is KATH. With 1,200 beds, it is the main service area for the 2.1 million inhabitants of Kumasi and the most important regional recommendation centre. KATH researchers, all emergency physicians or anaesthesiologists / intensive care physicians visit the EU and the intensive care unit daily to assess the presence of intubated patients. In addition, they interviewed doctors and nurses on duty about all patients who had been intubated since the last personal screening but who had died before the examination. They also examined the medical records of patients that expired after intubation and before evaluation. Finally, a group of SMS applications for smartphones was used to inform investigators about newly intubated patients. Intubation instrument set is also purchased for hospitals in Ghana.
